Pur Hiker Microfilter
The Hiker microfilter is a Level 2 filter, ridding water of Giardia, Cryptosporidium, and most bacteria.
The PUR Hiker Microfilter was rated #1 for easy of use in a Backpacker Magazine water filter field test.
AntiClog technology allows PUR to be able to guarantee the cartridge not to clog for one full year! The combination of high water output (up to 1 liter per minute), light weight, ease of use, and reasonable price, makes the Hiker one of the most popular water filters for hiking in Quetico Park.
Replacement cartridges are interchangeable with the Voyageur purifier cartridges, making a future upgrade
to a Level 1 purifier possible (upgrade should also include a carbon StopTop to remove iodine).
Clean Water Tips!
When hiking Quetico Park, use a combination of filters, iodine, and always be
careful about where you get your water. Some lakes,
with their mud bottoms, just never taste decent no matter how the water is treated.
Generally, Hikers should seek faster moving, large streams or clear lake shores. While canoeing, collect your water from the center of large, clear lakes. You may iodize water through the day while paddling,
and filter water when in camp. As a precaution, many canoeists will boil small
amounts of water used for cooking, and scald cleaned dishes with boiling water.
